Festival of Unleavened Bread

Blessings for Obedience

The Father has a good sense of humor! He set His Festival Days at an appointed time, the month of Abib, with required eating criteria for unleavened bread. We reap the spiritual and natural benefits when we follow His laws, statutes, and commandments.

There are several health benefits to eating barley. Barley is the grain that our ancestors ate during this season. When eating bread made from barley, we receive vital vitamins, nutrients, and minerals our body needs to function. Fiber is essential to a healthy diet, and barley has plenty of fiber. Manganese benefits bones and brain health, and barley has that too. Barley has selenium, a mineral that supports the immune system and thyroid functions. Vitamin B1 turns food into energy, and barley has that as well. Want to regulate blood sugar? Well, chromium helps to regulate blood sugar, and it is in barley. Phosphorus improves digestion. Magnesium helps the brain and heart. Niacin supports lower cholesterol levels, eases arthritis, and boosts brain function. All these vitamins, nutrients, and minerals are in barley; therefore, eating barley benefits health.

 The Festival of Unleavened Bread

The Scriptures say not to eat leaven during the Festival of Unleavened Bread in Leviticus 23:6. The problem is that most people need help understanding what they should not eat during Unleavened Bread.

When we walk outside of YAH’s Word, we sin. Once we sin, it is easier to perform more sinful acts. Leaven in the Bible is viewed as a sin within the believer. When we decide to sin, we have to think about it first. We mutter it over in our minds until the sin rises inside us. Then we agree with the sin and commit the act. Once the act is committed, it is easier to commit it repeatedly.
Sin is like leaven; the leaven does not stay in one spot. The leaven overtakes the entire area.

The  Scriptures say in Galatians 5:9

Be careful! “Just a little yeast makes the whole batch of dough rise.

The Scriptures say in Luke 11: 24-26
When an evil spirit comes out of someone, it travels through dry places, looking for a place to rest. But it finds no place to rest. So it says, ‘I will go back to the home I left.’ When it comes back, it finds that home all neat and clean. Then the evil spirit goes out and brings back seven other spirits more evil than itself. They all go and live there, and that person has even more trouble than before.”

Let’s look at baking and using leaven. When leaven is used in baking, does it stay in one spot as one lump? No! The entire dough has leaven throughout.

Leviticus 23:6 – The Festival of Unleavened Bread
YAH’s Festival of Unleavened Bread is on the 15th day of the same month. You will eat unleavened bread for seven days.

We are not to eat any food with leaven in it. Leaven is any ingredient that forms gas bubbles or makes food rise. Surprisingly, many packaged foods have leaven in them. Therefore, the best way to avoid leavened foods is to eat fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, and meat only during Unleavened Bread; and make all meals from scratch.

We cannot eat any items with baking powder, yeast, baking soda, bakers ammonia, or sourdough starter. Some grains rise so eating something other than rice, oats, modified wheat, modified rye, spelt, corn meal, modified barley, etc., is best, and any item that has bubbles or rises, i.e., soda, Irish Moss, Chia seeds, and eggs.

☐ ½ teaspoon of Himalayan Salt
☐ 3 Tablespoons of Avocado Oil
